Motives count
Paul J. Bucknell

Dear God,
Please show me what is true of my heart. Am I sorrowful or am I repentant too? Do I desire to get rid of my sin or do I merely want to get away from getting caught and paying the consequences?
Please work a deep work in my life Lord.
In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.

Motives Count!
A heart check is a motive check.
We must ask ourselves,
"Do I only hate the consequences of my lust-driven activity or actually hate the lusts and the selfish treatment of others?"
|
 |
The Lord says that there are two possible heart responses.
" I now rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that you were made sorrowful to [the point of] repentance; for you were made sorrowful according to [the will of] God ...." (2 Corinthians 6:9) |
|
"Take care, brethren, lest there should be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart, in falling away from the living God." Hebrews 3:12 NASB |
