God is powerful. God said and it was so. This includes things He made out of nothing (Heb. bara) and things He made. Search Genesis 1 and find the objects God is said to create (the word ‘create’ is used).
Identify at least three things that God ‘made’ (literally fashioned or designed) in Genesis 1. Which one intrigues you the most? Why?
Throughout Genesis 1 we find that it is written, “Then God said.” Where does it use this phrase. How do these things relate or differ from creating or making (the former two questions)?
The creation is said to be orderly. Why would someone say this? Why might God do it ‘orderly’? Is there any significance to our lives or world that we live in?
God said everything was good. List all the verses that state that what God made was good. Name at least two conclusions from this, one about God and one about what He has made.
How do these verses in Genesis 1 conflict with evolution? Why is there such difference of opinion? Does it make a real difference? If so, how?
Having looked at verses 1-25 and being part of that creation, what do we know about God? Why do people have a difficult time worshiping God in our largely secular world? How do you respond to such verses
