Respond to King Jesus

We are princes in Christ’s kingdom.

1) Our Royal Relationship

The best picture of our relationship with our King is from 1 Peter 2:9,

But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Circle the word ‘royal.’ Royal stands for the kingly line or those things that belong to the king. We are not to expand His kingdom through guns and territorial aggression. We are His priests and therefore extend His kingdom by praying, living out and preaching God’s Word. God’s kingdom grows every time another person enters His kingdom. It grows as we carry out His ways.

2) Our Royal Responsibilities

Because of the character of Christ’s kingdom, we can normally live in harmony with kings and governors on earth.

 ... I urge that prayers be made on behalf .. for kings and all who are in authority, in order that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. (1 Timothy 2:1-2)

We are also to live in harmony with each other. If we all focus on the will of King Jesus, then we will not need to fight about ‘our’ this or ‘my’ that. “If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law, according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well.” (James 2:8).

Instead we are to encourage one another to be faithful and loyal to each other.“Not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near” (Hebrews 10:25).

In our assemblies, we are to express our delight in our King who has saved us from tyranny and brought us into His service. We are to be a thankful people who continually give praise to our great King.

You keep the commandment without stain... until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which He will bring about at the proper time-He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords; who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light... . To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen. (1 Timothy 6:14-16)

We worship the Lord with others each week. Psalm 100:2 says, “Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful singing.”

Application:

• What is your attitude toward the world’s government? Do you submit to the rules of paying taxes and obeying its laws?

• Tell the Lord three ways you really appreciate being part of His kingdom with all His other specially chosen people.
