Carry Out Christ’s Commands

Christ’s kingdom are His peopleChrist’s kingdom are His people.

1) Loyalty of Heart

Christ our king demands our complete loyalty. His kingdom consists not of land or material things but of the hearts of His people. When we become citizens of His kingdom, we have left the enemy’s domain of darkness. We now belong to our King of love, whom we want to serve. Circle the word ‘transferred’ below.

For He delivered us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son. (Colossians 1:13)

Colossians 1:13 Delivered from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.

2) Loyalty of Life

Notice that as Christians we are now effectively members of Christ’s kingdom. We are responsible to carry out His laws. The apostle states, “So that you may walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory” (1 Thessalonians 2:12).

How should a Christian walk? _______________________

Some people bluff themselves. They say they are part of God’s kingdom but they are still ruled by the powers of darkness. One can observe their hearts by their actions.

For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. (Ephesians 5:5)

3) Loyalty Forever

We need to be careful to obey the Lord. In this way we will prove that we really have entered His kingdom. As we sincerely follow Him, He will safely bring us to His heavenly kingdom.

The Lord will deliver me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen. (2 Timothy 4:18)

The fullness of His kingdom will not appear until Christ is revealed in His full glory at His second coming. At that time all His people will receive a glorified resurrected body and live with our Lord forever. On His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “King of Kings, and Lord of Lords” (Revelation 19:16).

Application: Say a prayer committing yourself to follow Him all your life. You can use the prayer below if desired.

“Dear Father, thank you for delivering me from evil and bringing me into your eternal kingdom. I want to live for none but You. Help me to walk in a way that glorifies your wonderful Name wherever I am. I now commit myself to follow you forever. Keep me close to You. Protect me. I am looking forward to meeting you in your glory. In Christ’s Glorious Name I pray, Amen.”
