Bible Study Questions
Ephesians 4:4-6

There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all (Ephesians 4:4-6, NASB).

There is one body and one Spirit--just as you were called to one hope when you were called-- one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all (Ephesians 4:4-6, NIV).

  1. Paul in Ephesians 4:4-6 states the reason that God’s people ought to act as one people. If someone asked you as to why God’s people ought to be unified, what would you say?

  2. How many times does Paul state the word ‘one’ in Ephesians 4:4-6? List them down. What is significant about this number?

  4. Describe the Holy Spirit. What verse in chapter 1 does it say that the Holy Spirit lives in each Christian? Read it aloud.

  8. Do you think ‘one baptism’ refers to water baptism? Why or why not?

  9. Verse 6 speaks about ‘one God and Father of all.’ What does this mean?

  10. What would you say to someone who said that it is okay to have different religions just so we worship the same God?

  11. In Ephesians 4:6, Paul defines God’s involvement in the world. List the different phrases that are said about God in this verse.

  12. What does it mean that God is over all?

  13. What does it mean that God is through all?

  14. What does it mean that God is in all?

Application

  1. In what ways did Paul back up his point that we should all live peaceably with one another?

  2. What do you do if you and your spouse disagree about something?

  3. What do you do when your elder and yourself disagree?

  4. How can we use these verses to help guide our responses?

  5. Where does all the divisions come from in the body of Christ? Should we just tolerate them? What can be done?
