Redemption Through the Scriptures has three specific goals:
Provide a chronological approach to the study of Redemption and Christ's work by showing how the scriptures work as a whole.
Become a foundational biblical theology of Christ's redemptive work.
Spur us on in our spiritual walk by taking the oft heard gospel story and making the truths standing behind the gospel powerfully relevant to our Christian lives and growth.
The outline is provided below. There are two summaries to better enable the student to grasp the many biblical texts teaching about Christ's redemptive work on the cross (chapter 15) and the to summarize the purposes (chapter 16) of God's redemptive work. This study particulary addresses the narrow futuristic viewpoint of salvation without comprehending what God is now desiring to do in one's Christian lives.
Part of this book, Redemption Through the Scriptures, is on the web (see below), but the completed book with all the other teaching materials including: the full study guide and available videos, audios, and powerpoints are included in the Discipleship 3rd level library along with other third level BFF publications. These resources enable you to not only grow in Christ, be like Christ but also to have Christ's plan lived out through your life! Or check out the book!
We typically look at life from our tiny vantage point. When we step back and carefully observe what God has said in His Word the Bible, we are amazed at God’s eternal plan. The Bible is not a random collection of holy books but one large description of what God is significantly doing during each era.
As we look at God’s redemptive plan, we will look at it from a consumer perspective. The customer sees something he likes, pays for it and takes it home to enjoy it.
The Program encompasses God chief desires. God unfolded His plan and interweaved it into the creation of the universe, the earth, the history of mankind and time itself.
The Purchase describes how through time God secured the plan. God through sending His only Son purchased His people for Himself.
The Pleasure speaks of God’s delight in seeing His plan completed. Once purchased, God wonderfully starts working closely with His people.
The Survey will use two surveys of this whole redemptive plan, one biblical and one thematically, that will poignantly illustrate God’s careful development of His glorious plan.
