Becoming an Overcomer

Session #10

  • Overcome Anxiety: Finding Peace, Discovering God - a bookSlide #2
    Let's make the
Nike running shoe our symbol for victory.
    Without understanding our limitations and
retraining our minds to think biblically, we have no victory.
We need to admit our failures, our needs and our
    sins.
    We need a
    constant faith.
    "Go
all the way. Be an overcomer."

  • Slide #3
Caleb was one of the two good spies.
He could easily or conveniently forgotten it even after 45 years had passed.
Caleb wanted to go to the exact place that
    scared the spies (Joshua 14:12).
He didn't care about an easy
    retirement!
He lived for victory not for ease.

  • Slide #4
But no, these are Jesus' own 12 disciples.
The difference before and after the cross is so startling that their story is often told to prove that the Lord Jesus indeed must have risen from the dead
They had not prayed as Jesus told them. They were plagued by all sorts of worries and fears.

  • Slide #5
    Inside Problems:
    we create
    Outside Problems:
    others create
The far majority of the problems we face in life are because of our own doing.
Although others have done wrong, our
response of bitterness, constant criticism, etc. further this wrong.
Blaming others is our way of concealing our transgressions.

  • Slide #6
The question is not 'if' but 'when.'
    God is our
Father God is willing to help
    God is our
Savior. God is able to help.
Unfortunately the unconscious life goal of many is to gain
    pleasure.
    Actually,
Revelation convincingly shows that even in the most alarming and stressful times of persecution, God is in full control.
  • Slide #7
    But
none of these can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus.
    God would always have something
better for us. This we need to accept by faith.
God is able to accomplish a
greater good in our lives through suffering.

  • Slide #8
    What is true with the
head, is true with the body.
If God would call us to share in Christ's
glory, does it not make sense that He would also call us to suffer with Him.
If we are in the least
unconfident of God's purpose and motives for our lives, then we will worry.
God allowed and even called His righteous and only begotten Son to
die for sinners. Surely God would call His other children to suffer because He allowed His Son to suffer and die on the cross.

  • Slide #9
    One serves whom he
    fears.
The devil prided himself in his
    power of death.
God sent Christ in human form so that He could
die and strip the devil of his power over death.
    Satan has lost his last
    bluff.

  • Slide #10
The key to this kind of problem is ones heart.
Unlike a Christian he cannot be freed from anxiety.
A good disciple of Jesus Christ is always prepared to face difficult circumstances. This is to regularly see you express your desire to be His.
He no longer has authority to
control us unless we give it to him.

  • Slide #11
Many other biblical passages can even more
directly apply to your own situation.
Please note we will follow our
Triple A outline on our slide
    Identify ones difficulty. (The
    reason for praying.)
We let God's truth help us get a
    proper perspective of our situation.
    It is
crucial that you bring His words into your soul before the trial actually occurs.
    We are to
affirm God's truths, ask help for our needs and honestly assess our situation in light of His truths.
