Addictions are another special kind of stronghold. The deceptions  and damage they bring are protected by the short-lived pleasures they bring. They of course have their associated lies but they are are further protected by good feelings which are induced by an adrenaline rush. They are so powerful that they convince us that this way of life is the only option. |
