Overcome Anxiety: Finding Peace, Discovering God - a book

Each of these affirmation of God's truths is based on Matthew 6:33. We affirm God is sufficient for our every need when we first pursue His will. Other verses could be used, but we are just trying to provide an example of how it can be done.

My
Finances
1) Affirm God's Truths:
Lord, I affirm Your kingdom and righteousness as a priority in my life. I commit my finances to you. You care for them. I want to set everything just right.
2) Ask Help for Needs:
Lord, please forgive me for mishandling my finances and to be always worrying. Help me get out of debt. Help me out of this terrible situation. I need you desperately.
3) Assess My Situation:
Lord, I am worried about my finances. I know why thing are so bad. It all started with the loan I got to buy a car. It put me too close on the edge. I couldn't give a tithe anymore. As I started focusing more and more on my needs, my worries have gotten worse. They even have started to affect my job performance. Now I have started worrying about my job.

My Health

1) Affirm God's Truths:
Lord, I affirm Your kingdom and righteousness as a priority in my life. Your are the God who promised to care for me through good and bad. I entrust my body, soul and spirit completely to you.
2) Ask Help for Needs:
Lord, please forgive me for not trusting you for my worries about my health. Please bring comfort and faith to my weak heart. Take care of me. Help me get back to you.
3) Assess My Situation:
Lord, I started worrying about my health when I heard of an old classmate getting sick and losing all her friends. I am not her. Furthermore, I am your child. You often use sickness to bring your children closer to you. I have been cold in my heart. Perhaps this is part of what you are doing.

My Relationships

1) Affirm God's Truths:
Lord, I affirm Your kingdom and righteousness as a priority in my life. I have been using women rather than caring for them as sisters. You know my need for a wife. I entrust you, my Father, to care for this need.
2) Ask Help for Needs:
Lord, please forgive me for caring for my needs more than the girl's needs. Also forgive me for pretending to be richer than I am. I am such a fake.
3) Assess My Situation:
Lord, I am worried about finding a wife. Really I should be concerned with finding the right woman but I am so desperate that I have even dated non-Christians. My worries seemed to get a lot worse when my buddies started jeering me at my last birthday party saying, “Are you ever going to find a wife.” I guess it had a lot to with my pride. I wanted to show them how good I was.

My
Grades

1) Affirm God's Truths:
Lord, I affirm Your kingdom and righteousness as a priority in my life. Right now I give my whole heart to you. Take it. Let not worry rule over me. Jesus, you are the overcomer. Show how your mighty hand is at work in my life. My faithfulness to you is more important than good grades.
2) Ask Help for Needs:
Lord, please forgive me by the blood of Christ for worrying about my grades. Help me do my best. You take care of what I get.
3) Assess My Situation:
Lord, I am worried about my grades. My mom told me that my dad was concerned about my grades when I mentioned I wasn't doing so well this year. I don't know what my parents might do or say if I don't keep my grades up. When I started thinking about grades, I started doing worse! I couldn't focus on work! I even was thinking how I could fake my report card. I also have been skipping church just to study a bit more.

Child's Health

1) Affirm God's Truths:
Lord, I affirm Your kingdom and righteousness as a priority in my life. I am not the only one who knows of my child's high fever; you know too. I don't know if it will get worse or not. But what I do know is that you will take care of her. I choose to trust her to you. You take this little child in your arms.
2) Ask Help for Needs:
Lord, please forgive me for not trusting you to care for this dear little one. I ask for your peace in my heart. To be honest I don't have much faith at this point, but it is there, and I want to trust you. Please help me to calmly serve my little child and not be preoccupied with my worries.
3) Assess My Situation:
Lord, I am worried about my child's health. Her fever is so high. My worries got worse when I remembered a sad story of a sick child. I'm so edgy. No peace. My mind can't rest. Things got even worse when I started thinking what would happen if she got worse. I don't know how to help her.

Job
Security

1) Affirm God's Truths:
Lord, I affirm Your kingdom and righteousness as a priority in my life. I know I might lose my job, but it can't happen unless you think it's best for me. Instead of worrying, and certainly that doesn't work, I want to praise you that you have my job career and my family's needs all in your hand.
2) Ask Help for Needs:
Lord, please forgive me for worrying about how you will care for my needs. I entrust all my needs of a job to you. I ask for your special peace that would enable me to care for others who are in my same situation.
3) Assess My Situation:
I am worried about loosing my job. If I loose my job then I don't have money for rent and food. I fear I will be a failure. It all started when I heard rumors of layoff. Maybe I am one of them. As a result, I can't focus. I can't sleep well at night; I keep waking up.

My
Research

1) Affirm God's Truths:
Lord, I affirm Your kingdom and righteousness as a priority in my life. It is true that I might not be able to continue my present research because of inconclusive data. I trust you. I want to discover your real world and not fake any data just to get by.
2) Ask Help for Needs:
Lord, please forgive me for worrying about what you have already cared for. Please help me to do my best for your glory. I need your wisdom and peace so that I can be your witness here in my lab.
3) Assess My Situation:
Lord, I am worried about my research. Things have not been going well at all. I started worrying when my professor told me I must start all over if I don't have results in two weeks.

Restoration is the scattering of doubt that God fully cares for me and the discovery of His real and constant love for me in this real world that I live in.
