The division of the Gospel of John is seen not only in whom Jesus reveals Himself with but in the way He reveals Himself.
The seven signs or miracles that John selected are contained within the first half (1). In this first twelve chapters people get to see Jesus in His glory and hear His proclamation of the Gospel. Jesus did things to or for people.
The last chapters (13-21) were for His disciples. Jesus, however, now was the center part of the work rather than His works. The work would be done upon Him. It included intimate sharing, fellowship, His passion, His dying and His resurrection.

Write down an important truth about Christ that John chose to reveal through each of the seven signs (miracles).
Many people deny the uniqueness of Christ. Think through John's life and writings. What might he say to these people?

Note:
(1) Although the author of the Gospel of John is clear about when certain events happened within the Gospel of John, the time of writing is not. The date seems a bit later because of the way chapter 21 was written. It appears the extra miracle in chapter 21 was not showing Christ's deity as much as Christ with a human body. The two early cults of Gnosticism and Docetism denied that the body was good much like today's eastern religions. John 21 powerfully shows both how Christ would adopt a new body and thus dismissing those developing cults, as well as the way Christ even in His glorified body would relate to His disciples.
